So far, a fascinating and challenging discussion about the role of politics in religion, and that of religion in politics. Specifically, Lilla looks at contemporary secularism as it is: a fragile historical anomaly.
Instead of tritely looking to the "WWJD" phenomena, and following as any given church denomination infers, this book looks to exactly what Jesus said about certain issues, and draws a far more nuanced, certainly less dogmatic conclusion about what we know about what Jesus would do in today's complicated world.
